We Are Bound By The Love of Jesus Christ

Love of Jesus Christ - Heart Shaped Clouds and Cross

I believe every generation looks around and believes they are living in interesting times. That can truly be said of everything that is happening in our world today. I have heard it said many times over the past few days and weeks that we are all in this together. That may be true but that does not alleviate the feelings of isolation or even despair that can easily creep into and dominate our lives. We need to be reminded on numerous occasions that as believers we are bound together by the love of Jesus Christ. We can rest assured that God’s promises are there for each one of us.

Telling ourselves to trust God’s promises is not always easy.

  • We live in a cursed and broken world.
  • Our bodies wear down and get broken.
  • We have our hearts broken numerous times.
  • We get discouraged with our job.
  • Our financial situation stresses us out.
  • Feelings of loneliness abounds.

The list can go on and on allowing feelings of depression, despair and fear to become the guiding force in our lives. Meditating on God’s promises helps us find peace during these turbulent times.

God Wants Us To Live Satisfied Lives

We can rest assured that God absolutely loves us and He wants us to live satisfied lives.

John 10:10 (NASB) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

God is Faithful

We need to focus on who God is and that He is faithful.

Psalm 86:15 (NIV) But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Psalm 136:26 (NLT) Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.

God Is Love

The question now becomes how do we know that God loves us? The answer is found once again in His Holy Word.

I John 4:7-9 (NIV) Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

We can live abundant and victorious lives because God absolutely loves us. What a great promise we as believers receive from our faithful God.

Romans 8:37-39 (NLT) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God Really Cares For Us

As we face each day we sometimes wonder if God really does care for us. The Apostle Peter answers this question.

I Peter 5:6-7 (NLT) So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

We can cast all of our anxieties upon Him because of His care for us. He only asks that we humble ourselves before Him, acknowledge Him and give Him the honor and glory due to Him.

I have shared just a few scriptures that have spoken to me during this season of tribulations. I pray that our Father in heaven help us remember His faithfulness and love that He has provided and will always provide.
