God is Paying Attention to You Right Now

I want to share something with you that boggles my mind. God is paying attention to you and He is paying attention to me. You might say, “Of course He is, the Bible says so”.

Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows” (Luke 12:6,7).

Sparrows

He doesn’t miss anything; He even knows how many (or how few) hairs I have on my head. See, of course God is paying attention.

In fact, it started when we were on a cellular level.

Consider this:

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalm 139:13-18)

He Made Us Unique

He made us, each, unique, it was intentional. God knows how many days we will live before we are born. He thinks of each one of us so much that His thoughts outnumber the sand. If that was a sand pail full it would be a lot, but the Hebrew word indicates the sand. All the beaches, deserts, and sandboxes of the world. Does that increase the boggle factor?

All our fingerprints, hand prints, footprints, eye retinas, and DNA are all unique to us. As we have already seen, He knows how many hairs we have. Multiply it by 7.8 Billion people in the world as of this month, and remember Psalm 139 was written about 3,000 years ago. So how many people lived between now and then and before then? God does not miss a pinkie print or a hair. God is paying attention.

His Followers Are Given Specific Gifts

Let’s amp up the “Wow factor” a bit with just a few observations. God has given specific gifts and purpose to each of His followers.

God has allotted to each a measure of faith. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly.” (Romans 12:3,6, emphasis added)

This is to each one of us individually, and there are a lot of us. God also works all of our circumstances together for good.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

He has a lot of followers for whom He is doing this. Still wonder if He is paying attention?

God Reaches Out to Us

Where the mind boggle happens with me is I have God, who reaches out to me and says things like this:

  • Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
  • You have taken account of my wanderings; put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?” (Psalm 56:8)
  • Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:7-11).

God is Attentive

God is attentive to our burdens, our stresses, and our emotions. His offer to hear our prayers is so personal that it is on the level of one of our children asking us for a snack. Not only that, I get the sense that He enjoys giving us personal attention, with the only limiting factor being we don’t come to Him to get it.

Now we get to what, for me is the mind-blowing part of this. I go to Him and ask for something, in response to His offer. Why, with all of the more important things going on in the world would He even pay attention to one such as me? I know the scripture reveals to us that He does, but that blows my mind. We have a pandemic going on all over the world, that is causing suffering and putting economies into chaos. Terrible things are going on in Sub-Sahara Africa, Nigeria, Sudan, Darfur, Somalia. Believers are suffering in places like China, Iran, North Korea. And I can think of people that I know, who have a lot more struggles than I do.

God Personally Responds to Our Cry

Get ready for this! God is able to personally respond to the cry of any and all of us, personally, individually, and all at once. He does not have to say, “Wait a minute, I’ll get to you”. God does not have a line waiting. He does choose to interact with something He might find more interesting to Him. Words like enormous, incredible, powerful all fall short of describing the vastness of the eternal God. Why would He pay attention to one like me? But He does. He heard the cry of faith of a fourteen year old kid, some 46 years ago.

“Things which eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Wow, God is Paying Attention!

In heaven someday, the individual attention goes on, which just makes me shake my head in wonderment.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away’. And He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new’”. (Revelation 21:3,4).

My musing on this is “boy the line must be long to get all the tears dried”. But the same ability to give attention to us all now, goes on throughout eternity! Someday I will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ, (2 Corinthians 5:10) and it won’t be “Hurry up I have a lot of people to see”. This is the immenseness and personal attention of our God who is not limited or distracted by the things that we are. He is paying attention to us, right now! Are we paying attention to Him?
