Glorify God

What does it mean to glorify God?

Glory as related to God in the Old Testament bears with it the idea of greatness of splendor

In the New Testament, the word translated “glory” means “dignity, honor, praise and worship.”

It means to bring Him honor through what we say, how we act, and how we think, how we treat others.

1 Corinthians 10:31: Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

We Glorify God when we give Him heartfelt gratitude

To glorify God means to acknowledge His glory and to value it above all things.

We glorify God when we give Him heartfelt gratitude

We glorify God through our desire to know Him

Jer 9:23-24 (NASB) 23 Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.

We glorify God through our faith

Romans 4:20 (NASB) 20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,

We glorify God through our love.

Glorifying God is our purpose here on earth.
